Since the school year 2005, the Late  Former Speaker Tadao Ngotel began his private scholarship in hopes of helping Ngarchelong students achieve their goals of higher education. This year marks the 20th year of the Speaker Tadao Ngotel Scholarship, one of the private scholarship programs administered by the Palau National Scholarship Board. It is a one-time award of $500.00 to a student of Ngarchelong citizenship who has just graduated from high school and plans to enroll in college. A student must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0.

The Speaker Tadao Ngotel Scholarship for this school year 2024-2025 was awarded to Mr. Fabian Iyar III, a recent graduate from Emmaus-Bethania High School. He is now pursuing his bachelor’s degree in biological engineering at the University of Hawaii – Manoa. The late Speaker Ngotel strongly supported higher education, and his daughter, Mrs. Merly Kuartei plans to continue this scholarship for as long as she can in his honor.
