Japan Government donated 2 sets of floating docks to Koror State and 24 units of deep cycle battery to Palau National Communications Corporation yesterday at a turnover ceremony held at Koror States’s Rangers Station at Malakal.

Floating docks will be placed at Jelly Fish Lake and at Milky Way.  President Whipps expressed appreciation to Japan on behalf of the Palauan people saying that such assistance assist Palau in its recovery.

Emphasizing the severe impact climate change has on Palau’s economy, President Whipps noted that Koror State experienced massive revenue loss for 3 consecutive years when jellyfish died off at the Jelly Fish Lake due to climate change impact.  The floating docks donation will help Koror State and Palau recover once the tourism returns.

24 units of deep cycle batteries were donated to PNCC in support of the mobile networks to ensure the continuation of service in times of disaster.
