The House of Representatives of Japan delegation meeting with the team from the Palau Ministry of Health & Human Services (MHHS).

On August 23, 2023 a delegation of Japan Parliamentarians paid a courtesy visit to the Belau National Hospital. They met with Republic of Palau Minister of Health & Human Services Gaafar J. Uherbelau, MHHS Director of Public Health & Human Services Sherilynn Madraisau, MHHS Director of Health System Administration Arnice Y. Yuji, and the Belau National Hospital Administrator Darnelle Worswick

The team toured the hospital visiting the Rehabilitation Room, the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Facilities, and the Intense Care Unit (ICU). All areas have been supported, funded, or sponsored by the Government of Japan. In addition, the delegation met with the volunteers from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) who are currently assisting with the hospital’s administration management team, the public health non- communicable disease program (NCD program), and the hospital’s rehabilitation program.

The delegation included Japan House of Representatives Member and Chair of the League Honorable Hakubun Shimomura, Japan House of Councillors Member and Vice Chairman of the League Honorable Masamune Wada, Japan House of Representatives Member Honorable Makato Oniki, Japan House of Representatives Member Honorable Ichiro Kanke, Japan House of Representatives Member Honorable Masahiro Komura, and their guests.

The Belau National Hospital expresses its gratitude to the Government of Japan for its endless support and looks forward to future collaborations.
