Minister Umiich Sengebau has been invited by the Institute of Advanced Sustainability Studies (IASS) to attend the 4th Potsdam Ocean Governance Workshop slated for December 13-14, 2017 in Potsdam, Germany.
Minister Sengebau accepted the invitation stating, “I am honored to accept IASS’ invitation to attend this important workshop and to participate in this high-level discussion. Ocean conservation and protection remains a priority for the Republic of Palau thus, Palau continues to lead discussions and contribute to solutions towards achieving Sustainable Development Goal 14 (SDG-14) on oceans, now and for our future generations.”
Mr. Sebastian Unger, Scientific Coordinator of the IASS Potsdam explains, “This year’s
Potsdam Ocean Governance Workshop is the fourth meeting of a well-established series of international meetings taking place every 1.5 years. It will bring together about 40 international high-level experts, scientists, stakeholders and decision makers to discuss and develop new solutions for pressing sustainability issues in ocean governance.”
In addition to participation in the high-level panel discussion with other international speakers including European Union Commissioner for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Mr. Karmenu Vella, Minister Sengebau is invited to provide the key opening statement during the Workshop’s opening plenary.
IASS Potsdam is an international research association founded in 2009 with the objective for gathering together information from science, society and politics to initiate and support transformation towards sustainable development that is grounded in scientific research. [/restrict]
