Last Saturday, March 16, 2024, marked a significant moment for the Udes clan of Melekeok State as Mitsko Basilius was publicly installed as the new Ebilreklai, succeeding the late Ebilreklai Gracia Yalap. The coronation feast, held at the House of Trolii in Ukaeb hamlet, was a momentous occasion attended by members of the family and esteemed leaders.
Mitsko Basilius, daughter of the late Ebilreklai Umai Basilius and late Ngirakebou Ruluked Basilius of Ngchesar State, steps into her new role as the Matriarch of the Udes clan. She is also the sister of the late Ebilreklai Baulang Basilius and other prominent family members.
The installation of Mitsko Basilius signifies a generational transition, but a commitment to the traditions and values of the Udes clan. The women leaders of Melekeok, known as Rubaldil, along with elder women of the Udes clan, gathered to honor and welcome the new Ebilreklai, underscoring the importance of female leadership in Palauan society.
