New electricity rates under the Distributed Energy Rate (DER) system, which reflects the actual costs of diesel and solar energy, will take effect on or after February 1, 2025.

Residential, commercial, and government customers are expected to see a decrease of 0.048 cents per kilowatt-hour (kWh) under the revised rates.

In addition, legislation passed in November, RPPL 11-39, introduced a 10-cent subsidy for the first 500 kWh of electricity for residential customers. This subsidy is designed specifically to offset diesel costs.

The same law also provides subsidies for water and wastewater services. Public hearings have been scheduled to discuss new volumetric rates for water and wastewater. These hearings will take place in Airai and Koror. For the hearing schedule and locations, refer to page 4 of this publication.

Further details about the new electricity rates can be found on page 16.
