February 22, 2018 (Koror, Palau) Minister Charles Obichang of the Ministry of Public Infrastructure and Industries seeks to retain Delta’s flight services between Japan and Palau in a letter to Delta Airlines this week.
Obichang asks for clarity from Delta on their decision to cease services to Palau in May of this year and offered government assistance to Delta to mitigate any issues with Delta.
“It is my understanding that since the inception of operations here in Palau, Delta Airlines has done extremely well on the Narita-Palau route with over 80% average load capacity,” stated Obichang.
Furthermore, Obichang expressed Palau’s commitment to accommodate the needs of the airline. “You will note that considerable investments in our aviation infrastructure is clear evidence of our commitment to better accommodate our patrons at the Palau International Airport to which we see potential for tremendous growth in the airline industry.”
Minister Obichang expressed Palau’s continued interest in maintaining Delta’s Narita-Palau route and offered to work with Delta on an agreeable solution.
