Palau’s Junior Tennis Team recently returned from the North Pacific Regional Championships (NPRC), a junior tennis tournament, held in Guam from February 3-8, 2025. Eleven junior tennis players, boys and girls, ranging from 9-15 years of age represented Palau at the NPRC, competing against teams from Nauru, Federated States of Micronesia, Northern Mariana Islands, and Guam.
While the team didn’t make the North Pacific Junior team to the Pacific Oceania Regional Championships to be held in Lautoka, Fiji in April, all the players gained invaluable experience competing against their North Pacific peers. The tennis tournament provided a platform for Palau’s Junior Tennis team to hone their skills, learn new strategies, and build camaraderie with other junior tennis teams from across the North Pacific. Palau Tennis Federation’s President and volunteer coach, Ernestine Rengiil, expressed her pride in the team’s efforts, noting that the players gave their best and are determined to return stronger next year.
Palau Tennis Federation (PTF) extends its deepest appreciation to companies and individuals in Palau and the Palau community and businesses in Guam for their generous donations, which made the team’s participation at the NPRC possible. PTF also acknowledges the unwavering support of the families and friends of the junior tennis team.
Participation of the eleven junior tennis players at the NPRC underscores PTF’s ongoing commitment to junior tennis development in Palau. PTF welcomes children who are 8-10 years old to join their programs. Interested parents are encouraged to contact Coach Ernestine Rengiil at 775-2429 for more information and registration details. PTF believes in nurturing junior tennis talents and looks forward to seeing more junior tennis players grow and continue to grow and represent Palau in future tennis competitions.
