The house, which is basically 10 condominium units is located close to Global City and is only 10 minutes from the hospital and 10 minutes from the airport.
Each unit is furnished with bed for patient and one for escort, with kitchenette and shower and living room. The 10 units costs $400,000 and it also cost $80,000 to furnish. The beds purchased for patients are hospital beds.
Funds were authorized and appropriated from the Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) Fund to purchase the housing.
“The house belongs to the Republic of Palau and if in the future, we no longer have need for them, we can sell them and get our money back,” stated Minister Roberts.
Hawaii medical referral house, which also belongs to Palau government, is still in need of repair. Minister Roberts stated that although some repair work has been done, they plan to send people to do more repair. [/restrict]
