Veterinarian Dr. Kristen Decina examined and treated 22 dogs and 6 cats at the Ngardmau Bai on Friday, May 7th, during the Pet Health & Wellness Clinic in a joint collaboration between the Palau Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) and the Ongedechuul System of Conservation Areas (OSCA) office, sponsored by the GEF Small Grants Programme.

The Palau Taiwan Embassy, through H.E. Ambassador Wallace Chow, is providing Palau Red Cross Society (PRCS) with $22,000. An amount of $20,000 is dedicated as humanitarian assistance to support people affected by Typhoon Surigae in Palau, and $2,000 is specifically for resource mobilization and fundraising activities of the National Society together.
The monetary support received will greatly assist PRCS as a humanitarian organization and in its response to Typhoon Surigae. NEMO and PRCS’ priority is to distribute relief supplies such as non-food items (NFIs) and hygiene kits to affected households.
Community Red Cross Disaster Action Teams (RDATs) worked in collaboration with State Governments to conduct Initial Damage Assessments (IDA) in all 16 States. Most homes, public infrastructures, and vegetation were destroyed or severely damaged in various states. Livelihoods were disrupted, communications and utilities shut down, and numerous families were evacuated to various shelters.
PRCS is grateful for Palau Taiwan Embassy and H.E. Ambassador Wallace Chow for their generous donation and continued support. Mesulang! Xie Xie!
