Adrian Ililau, a sophomore pursuing a major in Environmental/Marine Science (EMS) at Palau Community College (PCC), has successfully completed his Internship and Field Studies at the Palau International Coral Reef Center (PICRC). His field studies focused on “Effects of heat stress on corals” under the mentorship of a PICRC Researcher Victor Nestor.
During his time with PICRC, he also learned about underwater survey techniques, proper use of field equipment and best practices to collect and analyze data. With his new skills, he was able to develop a research project on his own, which met with PCC’s program requirements. He was required to complete 192 hours for both courses, the Internship and the Field Studies and presents his project to PCC and PICRC.
Adrian started his Internship and Field Studies on January 11, 2021 and completed on April 30, 2021. PICRC is committed to support PCC science programs so that their students will be able to gain field and research experience in environment and conservation work.
