Koror, Palau– Palau Small Business Development Center has been providing innovative, quality training in Palau on various small business topics ranging from start-up requirements and business planning, to programs on credit and financing, marketing, and accounting. On Wednesday, April 11, 2018, Palau SBDC conducted a two part-training on QuickBooks® at the Penthouse Hotel Conference Room.

The morning session focused on Setting Up a company on QuickBooks® using sample companies for illustration. Then the participants were guided through a hands-on exercise of setting up a company on QuickBooks® using the laptops provided by Palau SBDC. The afternoon session focused on the Bookkeeping transactions that QuickBooks® does using the various user interface—Forms, Lists, and Register. During the hands-on training, the participants were guided through exercises of entering sales, receiving payments, recording deposits, creating purchase orders, receiving inventory, entering and paying bills, and selling items.

Participants were able to compare two versions of the QuickBooks® Premier Accountant, 2015 and 2017 editions, during the training. Palau SBDC credits the Pacific Islands Small Business Development Network (PISBDCN) for providing additional QuickBooks licenses to make it possible for each of the 10 trainees to learn and participate independently. In previous QuickBooks® trainings, participants had to pair up and share a laptop.
