The Palau Tennis Federation junior tennis team went to Guam from July 25 to 29 to participate in the 2022 North Pacific Regional Championships. The Palau junior team comprised of four girls and 1 boy namely Ton Perez (16 U boys); 2. Galyah Mikel (16 U Girls); 3. Sorai Nakamura (14 U Girls); 5. Clara Ueki (14 U Girls); Shy Sadang (12 U girls). The junior team coach Ernestine Rengiil and Palau Tennis Federation member Noel
Four Micronesian countries participated in the event – Palau, CNMI, Guam and FSM brining a total of forty-six (46) participants.
Palau participated in the 16 and Under Boys and Girls; 14 and Under Girls and 12 and Under Girls. The Top 4 finishers in each age group will travel to Fiji in September for the Pacific Oceania Junior Championships (POJC) from September 10-18.
Our Palau Team results was at the top five considering most of the juniors was their first time to participate in the event. Ms. Galyah Mikel finished 3rd in 16 U Girls and Shy Sadang finished 4th in 12 U Girls and will be going to Fiji. Ton Perez finished 5th in the Boys 16 U event, and Palau Tennis have requested for Ton Perez, a wild card entry to the Pacific Oceania Junior Tournament (POJC) in Fiji in September this year. The coaches from CNMI, Guam and Palau will be traveling with the junior players from the North Pacific to POJC.
The Palau Tennis Federation extend appreciation to all the parents, sponsors and partners for their contributions and donations for making it possible for the junior team to participate in the event in Guam.
