KOROR, Palau – The Palau Vacation Hotel is undergoing a significant renovation and rebranding effort, aiming to attract a wider range of guests with upgraded facilities and high-quality service.

The hotel, which first opened in 2014, closed its doors after the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Following nearly four years of closure, the property showed signs of wear. However, the owner, with a deep personal connection to the hotel, has invested heavily in a complete revamp.

“This is more than just an upgrade. We’re rebranding the hotel to provide a truly high-quality experience,” said Ice Zheng, General Manager of the Palau Vacation Hotel. “We’re bringing in highly experienced staff from top-tier establishments to ensure exceptional service.”

Ms. Zheng revealed that the owner, who has a portfolio of properties across China and other countries, has a special attachment to the Palau Vacation Hotel. This personal connection motivated him to take a hands-on approach, overseeing the renovation and implementing a new management team aligned with his vision.

The extensive renovations are currently underway, with a soft opening planned for July 16th. This will allow a limited number of guests to experience the hotel firsthand and provide valuable feedback for further refinements. The official grand opening is scheduled for September, with the exact date to be confirmed soon.

“The owner is very optimistic about the future of Palau’s tourism industry and has made significant investments in properties here,” said Ms. Zheng.

“We’re revamping our services to cater to a global audience, including guests from China, Europe, Palau itself, and other destinations,” she continued. “We’re also working closely with the Palau Visitors Authority (PVA) to promote Palau’s rich cultural and environmental treasures to potential visitors.”

The hotel’s design will incorporate elements that reflect Palau’s pristine environment and cultural heritage, aligning with the focus on high-quality service branding.

“Our previous guests have consistently praised the beauty, cleanliness, and friendliness of the Palauan people,” Ms. Zheng explained. “This word-of-mouth promotion is the best marketing tool we have, giving potential visitors from China, where a travel advisory was previously in place, the confidence to choose Palau.”

China market holds 25% of the total tourism market share in Palau and has the highest number of visitors compared to other markets.
