Kelandy Faustino Diaz, a Palauan musician residing in Hawaii has received a nomination for “Male Artist of the Year” for the upcoming Island Music Awards 2020.Nominated alongside Diaz, are Eddy Dyno, Ka’IkenaScanlan, Kolohe Kai, and Likkie Jordan.

In order to be nominated for the Island Music Awards, a few factors are put into account such as streams, fanbase, and request of a particular artist’s song. Diaz’s most notable song is called Party on the Wknd which garnered 300,000 streams with accompanying music video raking in a 100,000 views.

He has also toured with the biggest acts to come out of Hawaii such as Eli Mac, Common Kings Maoli, and Rebel Soujahs. Additionally, he has collaborated with Grammy Nominated Josh Taotifi and Fiji.

When asked about his nomination Diaz mentioned “Im just a dude from Ngermid that loved making music. When I was cruising the hallways of PHS I never would have thought that I would ever be nominated for Male Artist of the Year at the Island Music Awards. God Is good.”

This will be Kelandy’s first time receiving this nomination and encourages other people to vote online. He stated that “I would love to encourage everyone to vote. Let’s put Palau on the map!”

Voting remains open and people can cast their vote by going to islandmusicawards.com. Although being his first time nominated, Kelandy believes that it will not be his last and will be dropping an album at 2021.
