Palauan students studying in the Republic of China, Taiwan, celebrated Palau’s Independence Day with special service to their fellow Palauans, especially Palauan medical patients receiving medical services in Taiwan.

As an activity for Palau’s Independence Day, Palauan students were divided into two groups and visited the patients residing in the two Palau housing for Palauan patients in Taiwan last week, Friday, August 29, 2023.
The students brought household necessities such as hand and dishwashing soaps, masks, Lysol sprays, paper towels, toiletries, and trash bags, among other things, as gifts to the patients in the Palau houses.
September 29 was the mid-autumn festival, a holiday in Taiwan, and there were no classes for the Palauan students. The students cleared their schedules and offered to assist patients and their escorts with whatever they needed help with or take them to places they wanted to go.
The date of the activity was set after coordination and consultation last month with the staff and patients.
The patients expressed to the student that they were grateful for the student’s visit as part of their Independence Day activity and were happily anticipating their visit. They encouraged the students to study hard in school and make Palau proud. (By: L.N. Reklai)
