KOROR, Palau — The Ministry of Health & Human Services (MHHS) has acquired NARCAN, a life-saving medication used to reverse opioid overdoses, as well as test kits for fentanyl and methamphetamine, Minister Raynold “Arnold” Oilouch announced.

Fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid responsible for thousands of deaths in the United States, is expected to reach or may have already reached Palau. Until last year, Palau lacked both opioid test kits and the medication needed to treat overdoses.
Minister Oilouch confirmed that MHHS now has NARCAN available, along with opioid and methamphetamine test kits, strengthening the nation’s ability to detect and respond to drug-related health emergencies.
The initiative is part of MHHS’s ongoing collaboration with the Bureau of Public Safety to combat illegal drug use and enhance public health protections.
