Koror, Palau – The Palau Ministry of Justice, Marine Law Enforcement Division (MLE) celebrated a significant achievement yesterday with the completion of a wharf improvement project funded and supported by the Australian government.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the MLE pier to mark the project’s official conclusion.

“This not only enhances the MLE’s capabilities but also underscores Australia’s strong partnership with Palau in maritime security,” stated Australian Ambassador to Palau, Her Excellency Mitchelle Turner. This year marks the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two nations.

Australian Colonel Paul Wright, who flew in specifically for the ceremony, highlighted the project’s significance. Maintaining crucial infrastructure is a vital aspect of Australia’s support,” he said. These upgrades will enhance the security and safe berthing of the PSS Remeliik II patrol vessel, allowing for its more effective use and maintenance.”

Vice President and Minister of Justice J. Attach Sengebau-Senior expressed gratitude to the people and the government of Australia for being a great friend, especially in matters of maritime security.
