The Palestinian National Council has urged the Senate leader to support calls for humanitarian aid in the besieged Gaza Strip.
In a January 17 letter to Senate President Hokkons Baules, the Palestinian National Council Speaker Rawhi Fattouh appealed for support and assistance in “alleviating the suffering of our people due to Israel’s bombardment on the Gaza strip for more than 100 days.”
Since the bombardment, the speaker said more than 400 schools were either destroyed or partially destroyed, with thousands of men, women, and children wounded and several without access to medical treatment.
The speaker has appealed to the Senate through the Asian Parliamentary Assembly ( APA) to seek assistance from parliamentarians worldwide.
He said Palestinians in Gaza would help such as tents and caravans. food, medicine, water, and fuel, among others.
He said they also need Palau’s help to exert effort on Israel to allow the entry of assistance into the Gaza Strip.
After the Hamas’ October 7 terror attack on Israel, Palau President Surangel S. Whipps condemned the attack in a letter to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
