KOROR, Palau – Palau Conservation Society (PCS) is pleased to announce the selection of Michelle Ngirutang as its new Executive Director. The selection was made by the PCS Board of Directors on August 2, 2021.

Ms. Ngirutang hails from the states of Angaur and Ngaraard. She obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Hawaii at Hilo. Her expansive skill sets range from the Hotel and Marketing industries to a leadership role within the U.S. government. A significant amount of her career (17 years) was spent working as a Senior Compliance Rep Lead for the State of California Franchise Tax Board. Prior to her leadership role in the State of California, Ms. Ngirutang gained valuable experience in customer service, hotel operations in accounting and audits within large corporate companies such as the Hilton Hotels Inc. After a 30 year hiatus, Ms. Ngirutang has returned back to her roots in Palau where she looks forward to “making a positive contribution in line with our Palauan way of life in conjunction with preserving our natural resources”.

Ms. Ngirutang will bring leadership, management experience and klechibelau, or Palauan identity, to fulfill the Executive Director role. She looks forward to working with the PCS staff and its members to continue building partnerships and harness relationships in alignment with the preservation of our beloved Pristine Paradise Palau.  

Palau Conservation Society is a nonprofit organization founded in 1994 by local citizens striving to act, not above, but within the community. As stewards of the environment, the staff and board of PCS work to ensure that the shared vision of the organization’s founding group lives in through community work, educational programs, and through government collaboration on both the state and national levels.
