On Tuesday, February 16, 2020, the Palau National Olympic Committee held its first working meeting of the year with Leaders and members of National Sports Federations to present sports activities and events for 2021 to 2025. The working meeting was attended by more than 25 sports leaders, representing respective sports.

The working meeting presented plans for this year, which included the Biennial Sports Awards for this year slated from 8th of April, the Belau National Games this summer, Tokyo Olympic Games July 2021, and the plan roll out of preparation for 2022 Micronesian Games in the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the 2022 Mini Pacific Games hosted by Saipan, 2023 Pacific Games in Honiara and Palau pre-plan to host the 2025 Mini Pacific Games. The members had an opportunity to discuss the activities presented, the resources and the support required to plan and implement the various sports development and targeted dates of events.

The National Olympic Committee with national sports federations continues to depend on and coordinate with key partners in government both at national and state level to implement sports events and related activities for good health and wellbeing to our youth in schools and throughout our community.

At this meeting, the various NOC Commission leaders from Athletes commission, Women and Sports Commission, Education Commission and medical commission presented their respective upcoming related activities through sports with community key partners to promote sports and physical activity for athletes, youth, and everyone.

The meeting also presented the opportunity to Senator Kazuki “Topps” Sungino who was the former Basketball development officer to offer a short message to everyone and introduce his Staff Ms. Mertii Yaoch who is also a former national basketball player for Palau at the Micronesian Games.

The meeting was attended by President of the Palau National Olympic Committee, Mr. Frank Kyota, as well as all NOC board members and staff.
