As part of its commitment to advancing operational efficiency and ensuring long-term reliability, PPUC recently launched a significant project at the Malakal Power Plant to upgrade the control panel system. The control panel upgrade, a critical component of power plant operations, will replace the existing system which is outdated and no longer manufactured and supported. The new and updated panel is designed to improve monitoring, control and response capabilities. By integrating advanced automation and digital controls, the project aims to increase operational resilience, reduce maintenance needs, and ultimately improve service quality for the community. Additionally, the upgraded control panels will include advanced safety protocols designed to safeguard personnel and equipment.

The project began on November 8, 2024 and will run for three weeks with an expected completion date of November 28, 2024. During this time, two of the main generators at Malakal Power Plant are temporarily offline and most of the generation is coming from Aimeliik Power Plant. PPUC has

implemented plans to ensure minimal impact on power supply by drawing from other available resources in the grid and coordinating with local partners. Customers will be notified of any relevant updates as the project progresses.
