Due to rising resistance to antibiotic medication, World Health Organization endorsed a global action to raise awareness about the rising resistance to antibiotics world-wide.
The key objective of the proclamation in line with WHO proclamation is “to improve awareness and understanding of antimicrobial resistance through effective communication, education and training.”
With the theme “Handle with care”, the awareness campaign is targeting the general public, health practitioners and policy makers to emergence of further antibiotic resistance.
Everyone is encouraged not share antibiotics or save for the future and to make sure that only certified health practitioners prescribe the medications.
Resistance to antibiotics puts lives at risk and compromises our abilities to treat infectious diseases.
Presidential Proclamation 16-193 declares November 14-20, 2016 as World Antibiotic Awareness Week for the Republic of Palau. [/restrict]
