From October 28- 30, 2022, Palau Visitors Authority participated in New York’s International Travel Show (ITS), a new show presented by Travel + Leisure. From there, PVA traveled down to Orlando, Florida for the DEMA show held on November 1-4, 2022. DEMA show is a notable four-day dive show that has been running for over a decade.
Those attending and representing Palau as Palau Visitors Authority were Chloe Ysikl Yano, Marketing & Programs Manager, Aiyumu Takada, Human Resource Manager, and Ashea Toktang Rafael, Strategic Analyst.
Both exhibitions afforded an opportunity to market Palau and connect with frequent travelers, agents, bloggers and travel advisers. The NY International Travel Show (ITS) presented by TRAVEL + LEISURE GO was aptly timed for the global restart of travel across all industry sectors to inform consumers on their best choices in travel. The theme of ITS2022 was The Future of Travel, showcasing what’s new in travel technology, sustainability and responsible tourism for a new generation of travelers. The annual DEMA (Diving Equipment & Marketing Association) Show is the largest trade-only event in the world for companies doing business in the scuba diving, ocean water sports and adventure/dive travel industries. It attracts hundreds of exhibitors and thousands of dive and travel industry professionals from around the world each year.
PVA has been focusing on targeting the North America market since 2020 as Asia Pacific markets still have travel restrictions in place whether it is covid-related or flight routes. With China Airlines flying more frequently and Taiwan with less restrictions for transit travelers it gives North America travelers and also European travelers another flight route alternative.
