Two ribbon cutting and ground breaking ceremonies were conducted this week at Ngchesar and Ngatpang.
The purpose of these ceremonies is to serve as evidence of the projects starting and its completion. Additionally, the projects are funded by the Republic of China (Taiwan) economic stimulus grant.
In Ngchesar, the projects focused on the improvement and development of the Taberngesang Dock as well as the roads valued at 1.3 million dollars. During the ribbon cutting and ground breaking ceremony, Ambassador Wallace Chow disclosed that Taiwan will fund another $800,000 for the improvement projects in Ngchesar.
After its completion, Ambassador Wallace Chow mentioned in his speech that the Taberngesang Dock will be a very popular place in Ngchesar where they can do family reunions or other social gatherings.
Ambassador Chow went on to say that Taiwan will continue to help Palau and hopefully finish the remaining roads in Babeldaob.
During President Remengesau’s speech, he expressed gratitude for Taiwan.
He stated that “Taiwan is one of the countries that really helps Palau with what they need.
Taiwan has displayed strong relationships, they are there for us during good times and hard times.”
President Remengesau also commended the people and government of Ngchesar for prioritizing the improvement for Taberngesang for the sake of the children.
While in Ngatpang, the projects focused on the development and improvement of the Koksai-Nekken Road along with the roads in Ngatpang. The project is valued at 1.17 million dollars also funded by the Republic of China (Taiwan) economic stimulus grant.
