On November 17, 2023, Ambassador Jessica Lee of ROC (Taiwan) presented a grant to the Republic of Palau to assist the latter’s Economic and Tourism Recovery, which was seriously hit by COVID-19 in the past years. The grant has arrived in time, when Palau is expecting to boost its economy along with the several projects of tourism promotion. President Surangel S. Whipps, Jr., along with Minister Ngiraibelas Tmetuchl, Minister Gaafar Uherbelau, State Governors, Board Members and Staff of the Palau Visitors Authority assembled at the President’s Satellite Office in Meyuns, Koror to receive the donations from the Republic of China/Taiwan.

The generous grant provides vital support for Palau’s tourism marketing efforts, facilitate infrastructure improvements in several states of Palau namely Peleliu, Aimeliik, Airai, Ngchesar, and Ngiwal, and enable the enhancement of the Belau Memorial Hospital roof. During the ceremony, President Whipps expressed his heartfelt gratitude to Ambassador Lee and the Government of the Republic of China/Taiwan for their commitment to supporting the Republic of Palau.
