PPUC also advised that sewage was being discharged at CIP Office, Long Island Park, Koror State Rangers Office, Fisheries Dock, Belau Transfer and Riptide while the repairs are being made on the system.

According to press release issued by PPUC, Sewage Pumping Station No. 2 located across the turn to Malakal Port was damaged on October 10 when a metallic object damaged the intake and impeller of the temporary pump.

PPUC reports that this station was using a temporary pump while waiting for the implementation of the Koror-Airai Sanitation Project to complete.  This temporary pump was damaged and was repaired the next day October 11.

The same pump failed a week later. In order to repair the pump, pump station needed to be shut down and discharge line to Malakal Sewage Treatment Plant needed to be emptied.  The work on the damaged pump commenced on November 1 and will take several days.

PPUC asks for public’s understanding and patience as repairs are being made to the system. [/restrict]
