September 9, 2016 (Koror) Speaker Anastacio calls for urgent action on two bills in the Senate in his letter to Senate President Camsek E. Chin.
The bills of interest include Land Court bill and Continuing Budget Authority bill. “These two bills address and remedy significant policy concerns in the Republic and should be given due consideration,” asserted Speaker Anastacio in his letter.

The letter further pushes for passage of House Bill 9-209-25S, the Land Court bill. The bill seeks to extend the life of Land Court and re-open claims for public land. Speaker asserts in his letter that the bill is not being handled properly by the Senate Committee and pushes Senate President to bring the bill to the floor of the Senate for proper address.
Adoption of the bill to clarify whether or not State block grants and the additional $50 SS benefit payments will continue once Continuing Budget Authority commences was also urged..
During Senate’s special session called yesterday, Senate adopted House bills 9-209 and HB 9-228-15, HDI, both addressing continuing budget resolution. One was adopted in the first reading and one in the second reading.
HB 9-209-25S, Land Court bill was passed on second reading. Bills were referred to their respective committees. [/restrict]
