December 20, 2016 (Koror, Palau) Ambassador Michael Y. K. Tseng of the ROC (Taiwan) Embassy presented one check amounting to about 4.4 million US dollars, as the third tranche of 2015 annual grant, to Hon. Elbuchel Sadang, Minister of Finance.

Funded projects in this action are: (1) Road Constructions and Improvements in Aimeliik, Melekeok, Ngaraard, Ngarchelong, Ngatpang, Ngchesar, Ngeremlengui, and Ngiwal; (2) Heavy Equipments and Improvements of Ngerkeai Museum and Visitor Center in Aimeliik; (3) Construction of Recreational Parks in Ngaraard, Ngarchelong, Airai and Koror; (4) Water Distribution Lines in Ngardmau and Peleliu; (5) Peleliu State Capital Building; (6)Babeldaob Landfill/Solid Waste Development Design; (7) Ministry of Community and Culture Civic Center Improvements; (8) Track and Field Resurfacing; (9) National Archives Capital Building.

The Taiwan Government is happy to offer assistance in Palau’s national development and to help alleviate living standard and convenience of the Palauan people. Taiwan Embassy will continue working closely with the Palauan government to ensure all projects proceed more efficiently. Apart from annual stimulus grants majorly for infrastructure, Taiwan also provides scholarship to students, technical assistance for local agriculture and aquaculture farmers through Taiwan Technical Mission (TTM), and medical cooperation including referral program, and efforts to combat NCDs.

Despite the economy growth rate was not as satisfactory as it had expected in the past years, Taiwan government still treasures the cordial and brotherhood-like relationship with the ROP and will keep her commitment to render continuous assistance to the people and government of Palau. [/restrict]
