Thousands of tourists from Taiwan are expected to come to Palau once the travel bubble is developed between Palau and the Republic of China-Taiwan.
“After we put together the travel bubble….we will bring tens of thousands of Taiwanese tourists to Palau,” Ambassador Wallace Chow of the Republic of China-Taiwan to Palau said in his remarks during Taiwan’s 109th National Day Celebration last night.
Furthermore, he said that after the pandemic, more airlines from Taiwan will be bringing more people. China Airline has an existing Palau route but another airline EVA Air was in the process of applying when the pandemic hit. These airlines are expected to start direct services to Palau from Taiwan once pandemic is over.
Ambassador Chow said that Taiwan and Palau had already established a medical travel bubble which allows for medical referral patients from Palau to go to Taiwan.
This week, Taiwan donated $600,000 grant to Palau to help pay the cost of transportation of medical referral patients from Palau.
Next week Tuesday, China Airlines will be arriving in Palau with patients that have completed their medical treatment and will be picking up 18 new referral patients and their escorts to Taiwan. This is a chartered flight according to Minister Charles Obichang. Meanwhile Palau is working with the airlines to establish essential air services.
