Koror, Palau – The community is mourning the loss of Costner Desbedall Tellei, 29, who was reported missing on July 31, 2024. The Palau Bureau of Public Safety (BPS) confirmed that Costner Tellei has been found deceased.

Costner Desbedall Tellei was last seen at the Belau National Hospital area around 11:00 A.M. on July 31, 2024. His disappearance prompted widespread concern and community-wide search effort. Flyers were distributed across social media and various media platforms to aid in locating him.

In a recent email dated August 02, 2024, the BPS administration expressed gratitude for the public’s assistance and requested the removal of all missing person flyers to prevent further distress to Tellei’s family. Authorities have not disclosed the circumstances surrounding his death and no details have been provided on when, and how he died. Reports from witnesses said the deceased was found floating near T-Dock. 

According to The Bureau of Public Safety’s PIO, Favian Ngiramengior, BPS is currently awaiting a report from the Belau National Hospital to determine cause of death. The Criminal Investigation Division (CID) is also conducting a thorough investigation. Once these reports are received, they will be sent to the Attorney General’s office, which will determine if foul play was involved or rule it out.
