852 adolescents, kids age 12-17, have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine Pfizer
according to Public Health Director Sher Madraisau. Estimated number of adolescents age
12-17 is 1700 according to Ministry of Health.
Director Madraisau reported that they were working with Ministry of Education to identify
those young adults within this age group and working with their parents and guardians to
get them vaccinated.
Reporting at this week’s press conference, Madraisau said that this Friday, August 6, from
3pm to 7pm, they will open for vaccination of young adults age 12-17 as well as any adult
that have not received his/her vaccine jabs.
As of July 30, 2021, 14,475 adults (18 years and above) have received their first dose of
COVID vaccine and 14,377 are fully vaccinated.
Meanwhile, Palau in talks with airlines, particularly United Airlines to at least increase their
flights to two flights a week. Minister Charles Obichang of MPII reported that talks are
ongoing on re-opening Palau-Philippine routes.
Talks as well with Taiwan to re-open the travel bubble talking place. The race is to get over
80% of the population and slowly open up to more travelers.
