The Elgina Sechedui Takeo (EST) Memorial Scholarship was awarded to Mr. Koteb M. Aulerio, a graduate of Airai Elementary School, on September 4.
The $500 scholarship was presented by the children of the late Sechedui Takeo to Mr. Aulerio, who is pursuing his liberal arts degree at Palau Community College.
The EST Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from Airai who has a GPA of at least 3.0.
The Scholarship was established in honor of Elgina Sechedui Takeo, a long-time employee of the Palau National Scholarship Office for over 22 years, who passed away in 2016. Mrs. Takeo is known for believing in higher education and supporting those who had least access to opportunities.
PNSB Awards 5 full scholarships for 2020-2021
Palau National Scholarship Board (PNSB) has completed reviewing School Year 2020-2021 applications for PNSB financial assistance, and awarded five students with full university scholarships.
A recipient of the Palau Full Scholarship must be at least in his or her junior/senior college standing, with a major in a priority field, and must maintain a full-time enrollment with a minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher. Based on these qualifications, PNSB awards the full scholarship according to the financial needs of the students.
PNSB disburses the first half of the scholarship award in the fall semester. The remaining half will be awarded at the beginning of the spring semester, provided the student maintains his or her enrollment. The Board reports that for this fall semester, PNSB has awarded a little over one million dollars to 190 students, about 75% of the applicants.
