“What you do is very important.  Our children are our country’s strength, and your work protects our country, and safeguards our young people.” President Surangel Whipps acknowledged the celebration of International Customs Day observed by the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection, consisting of Customs, Immigration, and Biosecurity, yesterday at the Palau National Gymnasium.

This year’s International Customs Day theme is “Nurturing the next generation: Promoting a culture of knowledge sharing and professional pride in Customs.”

The event included the formation, inspection, showcases, and exhibits of different programs under the BCBP held at Ernguul Park.

Present at the formation ceremony were President Surangel Whipps Jr., Vice President and Minister of Justice J. Uduch Sengebau-Senior, Director John Tarkong, and His Excellency Ambassador Orikasa of Japan.

The Bureau of Customs and Border Protection was reorganized under Executive Order No. 450, where Immigration, Customs, and Biosecurity were merged under the Bureau of Customs and Border Protection in the Ministry of Finance.
