The Palau Red Cross Society (PRCS) National and Branch Governing Boards met with the President of the Republic of Palau, His Excellency Surangel S. Whipps, Jr., for an Official Introductory Meeting.
A brief overview was presented by the Chairman of the National Governing Board, Mr. Santy Asanuma. This included the PRCS Organizational Chart, 5-year Strategic Plan, and Funding Support from fiscal years 2017-2020. Major accomplishments discussed included the recently concluded Red Cross Disaster Action Team (RDATs) Training that consisted of 65 participants representing 13 of the 16 States of Palau. Another highlight was Community Response Early Warning System (CREWS) Project where PRCS and partners, National Emergency Management Office (NEMO) and National Weather Services Office are working closely with State Governments on the planning, organizing, and implementation of Disaster Risk Management Early Warning System in their communities. Chairman of the Youth Council, Mr. Bedochl Macaulay Yobech, also highlighted the Youth-led Pledge 25 Logo Competition and the Annual First-Aid School Competition as major accomplishments this year.
President Whipps acknowledged the accomplishments and critical needs of the PRCS and advised the National Society to scale-up the Resource Mobilization and Fundraising efforts.
The meeting concluded with President Whipps, as Chief Patron of PRCS endorsing this year’s upcoming Fundraiser/Appeal on May 07, 2021 in celebration of World Red Cross Day.
