December 28, 2016 (Koror, Palau) Palau Public Utilities Corporation issued an announcement of raw sewage to be discharge near Ice Box Park in Malakal, CIP Office and Happy Landing Gas Station and Long Island Park area until repairs at Malakal Waste Water Treatment plant are completed.

According to the public announcement, the discharge is due to blocked drainage at the Malakal Treatment plant. The plant operation had to be temporarily halted in order for repairs to be made.
People are also advised not to participate in water sports or other activities around these areas until further notice. [/restrict]
