24 January 2024 – The Australian Embassy is pleased to announce the following recipients of the Direct Aid Program (DAP):

  • Friends of the Palau National Marine Sanctuary, Inc. – providing opportunities for the youth in Palau in marine and cultural activities to promote future career paths
  • Ngarchochadu – restoration of stone fortifying structures along the coastline of Ngiwal
  • Ngerbesos Farmers Cooperative – a farming project to improve community health for residents in Simizu, Ngchesar
  • Meyuns Elementary School – a waste segregation project to teach students environmentally responsible behaviour of waste disposal
  • DilNgebuked Inc. – a project to revitalize Ngaraard’s cultural legacy by installing signs that identify and narrate the traditional names and histories of houses in each hamlet
  • TaoTao Ngerchur – a project to engage in sea-based activities promoting physical activity and reducing the risk of non-communicable diseases

Congratulations to all recipients! Ambassador Richelle Turner and Embassy members appreciated the opportunities to meet with all the recipients in person and discuss the ways in which these projects will benefit the community.

DAP is a flexible, small grants program funded by the Australian Government. Funding of up to USD10,000 is available to non-government organizations and community groups engaged in development projects.
